How To Travel Full Time
Updated: Jan 7, 2019

I get asked “How can you travel this much?” probably two times a day! I totaled up my all my travels from 2018 and have found that I was abroad for over 7 months of it. That means, in another country, usually across the world, for 7 months! I just filled up my 3 year old passport, with stamps from the places I have been to and had to apply for a new one last week! Why am I telling you this? I want you to know, that you have friend in the traveling world, and I know what I’m talking about when I give you my travel hacks. The reason everyone takes the same trip to California every time they get a break, is because it is a “cheap trip”. What if I told you, you could spend a similar amount of money, but visit somewhere abroad!

What I Mean by Full-Time Traveling:
Traveling has become a passion of mine. I love to visit new places, experience new cultures, try new foods, and sometimes just have no idea where I am! It’s fun, it’s exciting, and it gives me a new perspective on the world I live in. I work for myself, from my computer, which gives me the luxury to work and travel wherever I want to. I know that for some, that may not be the case, so I want to help you pick an exotic destination for when you finally get your next chance. People get so put off by traveling abroad because they don’t know how to save money and make it happen for themselves. I have been traveling full-time this year and I have come to find the tips, tricks, and secrets to making international travel, affordable travel.

How to Find Cheap Plane Tickets:
“I’m dying to go to Paris, but I don’t have $1,000 to spend, just on a flight!” Trust me, me neither! There are so many ways to avoid these horribly over priced flights. Don’t let the price of the price of a ticket discourage you from traveling to that destination. Chances are you just looked up the flight on a bad day or on one specific airline. I am going to share 3 ways, that I use to avoid these over priced tickets and make it to your dream destinations.
Flight comparing websites: Google Flights and kiwi.com have come to be some of my favorites. They compare all kinds of different airlines on multiple different dates to provide you with the best, and cheapest flights. Google flights takes you from A to B with one airline or partnering airline. kiwi.com takes you from A. to B. in the cheapest route possible. Sometimes that means different airlines, sometimes not. My friend booked a round trip through kiwi.com from London to Utah round trip for only $523, around Christmas time, on Delta, a week before he left! That is unheard of! If he would have looked that up on his own, he would have spent over $1500. Flight comparing websites are the place to go to find the cheapest flights.
Change your departing airline: I don’t know about you, but I live in Utah and to travel anywhere abroad from Utah are at least $1000. If you change your departing airline to a more international friendly airport, the prices for your plane ticket will be more than half the cost of your original search! Some great airports to find flights out of are LA, Vegas, Seattle, New York, Miami, Boston, and San Francisco. Then all you have to do is drive to that state, or get a $100 flight there (Which is nothing compared to the hundreds of dollars you just saved by going to another airport!) For example, I just pulled my phone out and looked up flights from SLC to Paris! $963.. Now from LAX it was $339. If the airport near you only offers insanely expensive flights, like mine, change your departing airline and the prices will fall completely.
Be Willing to Compromise Comfort: This is when the unglamorous side of traveling comes into play. Some of the cheapest flights are on cheap airlines. That sometimes means long hours, layovers, and no free pillows! WOW Air is a great example of this. They aren’t the most comfortable airline, but they can get you from point A to B for a great deal!

Where to Stay:
Airbnb: If you go to Bali or Thailand you can get the prettiest beach houses and split it between your friends. It ends up being $10 a night right on the beach! If you are getting an Airbnb in Europe, be prepared to pay for cost of travel going in and out of the city. For the most part, the Airbnbs are just outside of the city and you’ll need to factor in the cost of travel.
Hotel: A hotel or a hostel is a great choice and for me I prefer it when I am traveling in Europe! The cities accommodate for tourists, so they have a wide range of options. If you’re on a budget, a hostel for you and some friends could work great. You can use www.hostelworld.com to find the cheapest ones in the best locations! If you are traveling with your kids or significant other, that might not be the best idea. I would recommend two websites www.booking.com/hotels it’s basically like the google flights of hotel finding! I’ve booked a few places on these sites and you can get some pretty good places for really good deals!
House Sitters: Here is the free option! House Sitters is a great service! You pay $60 for the year and you can choose to stay in homes and apartments all over the world for free. You are basically “hired” to house sit someone’s place while they are out of town. You may have to do some small task like grab the mail or walk the dog, but free accommodation is free accommodation! It’s great for travelers on a budget.

How I make money as I go
If you have read in my last few blogposts, I am a full-time blogger. I make money while I am traveling, while I am sitting in my bed, or while I am at a coffee shop in Paris! All of my travels are 100% funded by me and I work really hard. I spend several afternoons while traveling, at a cozy cafe working! I take extra time in the mornings or at night to get my work done. A lot of this includes: Blog writing, email campaigns, working on e-products, Instagram Campaigns, Brand Deals, and Content Creation. I love what I do. It allows me to be creative and live out my life the way that I want it to be.
How you can do the same
I know what I’m doing and I can help you do the same. If you are looking for ways to increase your income, add a little cushion to the retirement fund, travel more than just to California, or work full-time as a blogger, I would be happy to help you. I have some really exciting things rolling out in the next couple of weeks and I can’t wait to share them with you. I want to teach you everything that I know and help you to live out the life that you have been wanting to live!
